ARTIST BIO
Paty Torres is a interdisciplinary artist that was born and raised in Azusa California. She is showcased in the Cal State Northridge Galleries which highlights the Graduate Thesis Show. She is currently involved in SIPARP, an Artist’s Residency program at California State University Northridge. She recently graduated with her Masters of Art from CSUN and will be attending an Artist residency in Puebla Mexico in Summer 2023.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work has a sense of constant motion and vibrating energy. I am obsessed with repetition and patterns. This fascination has driven me to create work that uses repetition and pattern combined with organic shapes and color. I choose to create abstract work so that each viewer can bring their own experiences to the work. These additions to my work have expanded the ways in which I create work as an artist by adding dimension and by creating new visual outcomes. The patterns I paint in my work take center stage in each piece as they hypnotize and take my viewers into a visual maze. The oscillation that is seen in my work leads to a fluidity from one organic figure to the next.
